Doesn't Paul want to withdraw from Iraq? Yes. Occupying Iraq has put the our national security at risk; and it is bankrupting us. |

Wouldn't withdrawing from Iraq and closing our other military bases across the world Probably not. We have bases in 130 of 192 countries in the world. Why? When was the last time Germany (for example) threatened us? This is actually putting us at greater risk, because it instills this idea that America is a bully and the policeman of the world. This (along with a lot of other ugly foreign policy), not our freedom, is what motivates people to commit suicide in order to attack us. Besides, we can't afford this worldwide troop presence, and these troops and resources would be much more useful at home. Click here to read Paul's statement on this. |

Does Paul want to dismantle the military? Paul is a libertarian, and according to libertarianism, the military is one of the only things the federal government has the Constitutional authority to manage. We do need a military to provide for the common defense of the country. What Paul has a problem with is a foreign policy that has us go to war unconstitutionally and for no good reason. Our foreign policy keeps sustained troop presences in 67% of the world's countries. He also has a huge problem with the military-industrial complex, which makes it possible for weapons companies to bribe politicians to start wars. Anyone who cares about our troops and tax dollars should be insulted and outraged by such a foreign policy. Paul doesn't want to completely get rid of the military, but he does think we can spend a lot less and have a stronger national defense at home that is constitutional. If that's not enough for you, |

Shouldn't Paul be more supportive of Israel? The U.S. spends billions of dollars every year aiding and arming the Israelis. The U.S. spends even more aiding and arming Arab states. Why would we arm both sides of a conflict? We have done this sort of thing over and over again; and we can't afford to do it anymore. Moreover, our support for Israel over the Palestinians is one of the biggest reasons for hatred toward America. And Israel isn't all that grateful either. So let's save a lot of money and make ourselves safer. Besides, nobody is going to touch Israel. Israel is the only country in the region to have nuclear weapons. Read Paul's statement on aid to Israel here. |

Paul discusses his opposition to the Departments of Energy; Health and Human Services; and Commerce here. |

Doesn't Paul support gay marriage? Ron Paul thinks homosexuals ought to have the same rights as everyone else. He doesn't think marriage is something that should be under the jurisdiction of the government anyway, Here is Paul's statement on gay marriage during the debate over the Federal Marriage Amendment. |
